Using the Firmware Updater

LightOne and QuadDrive are updated in your browser at update.raidendigit.com. You don't need to install an app. This page covers the requirements and troubleshooting for both products.

For step-by-step instructions, see your product's guide:

How it connects

Connect the device's power port directly to your computer with a USB-C cable that supports data. The computer powers the device during the update, so you don't need the power adapter.

The updater talks to the device over the Web Serial API. This is also how you change device settings, such as fan curves.

Browsers

BrowserSupported
Google Chrome (desktop)Yes
Microsoft Edge (desktop)Yes
Other Chromium-based desktop browsersUsually
SafariNo
FirefoxNo

Web Serial support changes over time. For the latest list, see MDN: Web Serial API browser compatibility.

Operating systems

Windows

Windows 10 and Windows 11 work without any extra drivers.

macOS

Install the CH34x serial driver first, then open the updater.

Linux

Some distributions, including Ubuntu, block serial port access for regular users by default. If the browser can't see your device, add yourself to the dialout group:

bash
sudo usermod -aG dialout $USER

Then log out and back in, or restart, for the change to take effect.

Troubleshooting

If the updater can't find the device, or the update doesn't continue:

  1. Make sure the cable supports data. Charge-only cables won't work.
  2. Make sure the cable is in the device's power port and connected directly to the computer, not through a hub.
  3. Use Chrome or Edge.
  4. macOS: confirm the serial driver is installed and the device shows up.
  5. Linux: confirm you're in the dialout group (see above).
  6. Close other tabs or apps that might be using the serial port.
  7. Unplug the device, plug it back in, refresh the updater page and try again.
