FAQ
Firmware updates
The updater can't find my device. What should I check?
Usually it's a charge-only cable, the wrong port, an unsupported browser, or a missing macOS driver. See Troubleshooting.
Which browsers work?
Desktop Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Safari and Firefox don't support the Web Serial API that the updater uses. See Browsers.
Do I need the power adapter during an update?
No. Connect the device's power port to your computer with a USB-C data cable. The computer powers it during the update.
Do I need to remove the SSDs before updating QuadDrive?
Yes. Remove all SSDs before you update. See QuadDrive Firmware Update.
LightOne
Will LightOne work with my computer?
You need a host with Thunderbolt 3 / 4 / 5, USB4 or USB4 v2. On macOS, you need 14.2 or later. See the full compatibility list.
Why don't I see a full 25 Gbps?
Throughput is limited by the host's Thunderbolt or USB4 link. In ServeTheHome's tests, LightOne reached 21–22 Gbps on several hosts. The network on the other end, the SFP28 module or cable, and your storage also affect results.
Can I use LightOne on a 10GbE or 2.5GbE network?
Yes. Use a compatible SFP-to-RJ45 module for 1 / 2.5 / 5 / 10GbE networks.
QuadDrive
My custom fan curve isn't working.
Set the internal DIP switch to the middle position, then power QuadDrive off once. See Fan Control.
Why is the fan curve in watts instead of °C?
QuadDrive sets the fan speed from each SSD's estimated power draw, not temperature. See How the fan curve works.
Which SSDs can I use?
M.2 NVMe SSDs in 2230, 2242 or 2280 size, up to four drives. See QuadDrive specifications.
